Rina Widayanti, a woman born in Jakarta, has successfully defended her dissertation manuscript entitled Urban Heat Island Control Model in Villages with Potential Water Bodies, through a closed doctoral promotion session led directly by Prof. Dr. Ir. Atiek Suprapti, MT., on December 22 2022 with a Cumlaude grade, with a study period of 3 years and 4 months. The closed doctoral promotion session was held online and he was declared the 77th doctoral graduate in the Architectural and Urban Science Doctoral Program, Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (UNDIP).
Rina Widayanti’s dissertation manuscript has been tested by Prof. Dr. Ir. Atiek Suprapti, MT., and Prof. Dr.-Ing Ir. Gagoek Hardiman., as the UNDIP internal examiner team in a series of dissertation trials starting from the proposal trial, feasibility trial, to the closed doctoral promotion trial. Apart from internal examiners, the dissertation manuscript has also been tested by external examiners from the University of the Ryukyus, Japan, Prof. Dr. Eng. Jun Ichiro Tsutsumi. His dissertation manuscript is the result of a series of research processes supervised by Prof. Dr. Ir. Erni Setyowati, M.T., as promoter, Dr. Ir. Wijayanti, M. Eng., and Dr. Agus Dharma Tohjiwa, ST., MT. As a co-promoter, both at the research location and in the studio at the UNDIP Architectural and Urban Science Doctoral Program.
This woman, who works as a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Gunadarma University on a daily basis, has completed her lecture and research process in the sub-cluster of urban architecture, a sub-clump of thermal science in residential and residential areas related to urban heat islands in settlements around water bodies, with the cities of Jakarta and Bogor as the research locus. The research topic raised is urban heat islands in settlements around water bodies. The results of his research show that the presence of water bodies as one of the forming elements of residential and residential areas can help reduce the temperature of the area by paying attention to the variables of distance to the water body and width of the water body.
As a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Gunadarma University, Rina Widayanti has been given the opportunity to continue her doctoral education at the UNDIP Architectural and Urban Science Doctoral Program through a scholarship from Gunadarma University. During his education he also played an active role in national and international seminar activities and has published several scientific articles in national and international journals. One of them is an article entitled Functions of Water Bodies as Mitigation of the Impact of Urban Heat Island in Kampung Luar Batang and Kampung Pulo Geulis which has been published by the journal lEVERGREEN Joint Journal of Novel Carbon Resource Sciences & Green Asia Strategy which is indexed by Scopus Q2.
